Relationships Are The Key To A Network Marketing Business

By Kirk Bannerman

While it is true that heavily branded websites like amazon.com
are household names and carry an implied trust with visitors, the
vast majority of websites are not well known and are found and
visited as a result of searches performed with search engines.
In these instances, the visitor is probably arriving at the
website for the first time and human nature often dictates fear
or suspicion of the unknown.

If someone is shopping around for the best price for a particular
item, say a Cuisinart food processor, they would probably go to a
site such as Ask Jeeves (at ask.com using the Smart Search for
Products feature) and quickly obtain a list of sources and prices
for the desired item. The “yes/no” purchase decision has already
been made and it is simply a question of who to buy it from.

In the case of network marketing, it is of critical importance to
build a sense of trust with your team members. Network marketing
is very definitely a relationship business and each relationship
typically starts out with two complete strangers sitting at their
respective keyboards.

The team building aspect of network marketing is of vital
importance to the success of each individual member and to the
team as a whole. Two key elements of team building are trust and
confidence and these factors play a very large role, particularly
for new team members.

As a team leader, you need to be knowledgeable about the business
(products, services, or whatever) and straightforward with
answers to questions about the business as well as providing
timely and thorough support to your team members. These actions
will cement the relationship and build trust and confidence among
your team members.

Network marketing has many aspects, but promotion, persistence,
and patience are three key elements which are critical to
achieving successful results.

PROMOTION is the lifeblood of network marketing. Whether you
are using online methods or offline methods, or a combination of
both, you must constantly strive to get your offering in front of
a targeted audience.

There are thousands of published sources that deal with specific
methods of network marketing (both online and offline), but the
key point to be made here is that you must have an active
promotion campaign designed to bring in a steady stream of new
prospective downline members.

PERSISTENCE is a key element in network marketing success.
You’ve gotta “just keep on keepin’ on”, even though frustation
levels can be quite high at times.

After you have been at it a while, and have a downline large
enough to provide reasonably accurate statistics, you will
probably find that about 95% of your downline members are dormant
and do nothing at all. Its easy to get down in the dumps or take
it personally when you encounter so many “do nothing” people.

Therefore, it is really important work with and actively support
the 5% or so that are serious about participating. And clearly,
an active and effective promotion campaign will continue to
bring in increasing numbers of potential participants so that
while 5% is small on a percentage basis, it can still be a
sizeable amount from a pure numbers standpoint.

PATIENCE is vital. You can expect that it will take about a year
before the awsome power of geometric growth kicks in.

A classic illustration of geometric growth is the frequently used
penny-a-day example.

If you save one penny on the first day, and double it every
successive day, (day two you have 2 pennies and day three you have
4 pennies, and so on) how much will you have at the end of
30 days? The answer, to the astonishment of many, is $5,368,708!
Amazing, but true.

Its a sad statistic that most network marketers fail and it is
often traceable to the fact that they did not exhibit enough
persistence and patience to continue constantly promoting their
business for the year or so that is required for success.

Network marketers that stick with it for a year or more often end
up becoming the proverbial “heavy hitters”.

In closing, I would like to encourage you to increase your chances
of becoming a successful network marketer by always keeping a
clear focus on “the three P’s” of Promotion, Persistence, and
Patience.

A Secret To Extraordinary Accomplishments
By Willie Crawford

I sat watching a documentary on U.S. Navy SEAL Team Training on the local exercise channel. It showed young men, mostly in their early 20’s, enduring grueling ocean swims in near-freezing water. It showed these same young men forced to swim underwater (holding their breaths) until a major percentage of them passed out and had to be rescued by their instructors. It showed weeks of grueling training in which ordinary men are transformed into incredible machines with wills of steel and unshakable discipline.

Sitting… transfixed, and marveling at what these young men were able to accomplish, I saw the one missing element that most online business people are missing. I saw an ingredient that if more of them harnessed it, they would be able to accomplish things “in their world” as magnificent. That one secret ingredient is teamwork. It was the group cohesiveness, and the fact that they were all working for a common purpose that allowed the SEAL Team trainees to accomplish what they would not normally be able to do.

Enter the realm of the online entrepreneur. He sits at his computer, researching, writing and testing ads, tweaking his webpages in an effort to achieve greater search engine ranking, and doing a dozen other chores. Many of these online entrepreneurs do this all alone. They attempt the monumental… to build a six or even seven figure income while operating in a vacuum.

Step back and observe the Internet marketer earning several hundred thousand to several million dollars per year. He doesn’t operate in a vacuum. I know! I lived among and studied these people, and in the process became one of them.

Let me emphasize what you may not be noticing on a conscious level:

Successful Internet marketers all have mentors. Actually many of them mentor each other. They don’t fear sharing things they’ve learned through trial and error with those who will share back with them. They all “cooperate and graduate.” They don’t have the “scarcity mentality.” They know that through cooperation the pie actually gets bigger so they each get a bigger piece.

Successful Internet marketers often have coaches, or managers. They do this for the same reason that successful athletes, politicians and celebrities all have coaches or managers. They know that others can often step back and observe what’s happening in their lives more objectively, and then make sure that they’re only doing things that will move them towards an identified goal. These coaches will push them and challenge them to do more than they would probably do on their own.

Successful Internet marketers have formal and informal brainstorming or masterminding networks. Napoleon Hill, in “Think And Grow Rich,” pointed out that this was a common trait among the millionaires that he studied too. Put several people together who have a common interest or goal and it’s a natural breeding ground for breakthrough ideas. The masterminding can be long distance, via conference calls, but it’s usually more productive when it’s at an in-person gathering. These gathering can be as infrequent as twice a year, but they have proven very powerful!

When you think about why the above factors of extraordinary accomplishment are so powerful, it seems to boil down to one word. That word is… accountability. When you’ve made a commitment to a group to work towards a common goal, that’s much more effective than if you just made that commitment to yourself. There’s the incredible social pressure of not letting the group down. There’s knowing that the success… or failure… of someone else hinges upon your actions. That’s an amazing force that you can tap into today which will allow you to do things that you had previously not even imagined possible.

Now that you know the secret, if you’re serious about building an incredible online business you only need to harness it. A good place to find people who are ideal for teaming up with is at seminars and conferences. That’s why I attend so many. On breaks, at lunch, and after hours, I bounce ideas off of those with perhaps differing points of view, but with similar objectives.

While seminars and conferences offer lots of useful information and provide a motivational lift in-and-of themselves, my observation has been that the real “money” is made after-hours. That’s where small groups of friends, who only became associates through these events, sit around and put together deals and flow out large projects. They do it around the pool or huddled in an individual’s room. They don’t just brainstorm, they make long-term business commitments. These are commitments that muster in them the same type of effort that I witnessed in the Navy SEAL trainees swimming in the freezing ocean water.

I encourage you to stop procrastinating and act upon this obvious but too-seldom acted upon gem today. If you need help locating events where you can look for ideal partners, visit my resource website:

http://InternetMarketingSeminarSchedule.com
It lists a variety of events, and might even offer some very convenient to where you live. Break out of your shell of mediocrity and do it today!

As an aside, the next event that I’ll personally be at is Michael Penland’s Internet Marketing and Joint Venture Super Conference, in Orlando, Florida, December 3rd – 5th. There will be a lot of people there looking for proactive potential business partners. That’s the whole purpose of the conference. I have been a bad blogger. I started a new job and I haven’t posted to any of my blogs. That’s not good. Okay now that that’s out of my system. I have started a new position as a loan officer with Dividend America Mortgage. I am really excited about that because I have been itching for the chance to use what I have learned about internet marketing to make some money in the real estate arena. Now maybe I will have that chance. Of course the one challenge that I can see is getting local traffic to my blogs and websites. I’m sure that I can figure something out once I can slow down long enough to think. Of course I don’t know when that will be…

8 Ways To Get Off The Success-Go-Round And Have A Consistent Flow Of Success

By Marie Roker

Are you consistently chasing success? Once you achieve it, do you desperately try to continue the pattern of making it happen again? Isn’t it time you got off the success-go-round? Here are 8 tips to help you make the transition from inconsistency to steady flow of success.

1. Know Your Core Values.

What do your truly value in your life? If you’re struggling to come up with an answer, then maybe it’s time you reevaluated your values. You might know what values your parents instilled in you, but you need to be clear on what you stand for and what is important in your life. Do you value honesty, integrity or trust? By knowing your core values you will seek them in the relationships you form with others. List your top five core values and live by them. Start to examine if your core values match the goals you are trying to achieve. Your values are essential to success.

2. Be Honest With Yourself.

Don’t kid yourself about who you are or what you love to do. If you’re trying to impress or win the approval of others by being successful, you success will be unauthentic. Is the “real” you showing up everyday? It is empowering to some to have a great job title or a prospering business, but if at the end of the day, you feel empty, tired or dissatisfied; it’s time to be honest with yourself. You can’t present yourself as someone in control at work, when you know deep inside you feel that you have no control over your life. Success is only temporary when you are not living a self-actualized life. Passion for your life and your work makes you thrive. Only when you are honest with yourself about who you are and what you really love to do can you start to experience a steady flow of success.

3. Don’t Let Your Emotions Run the Show. If you’re happy when life is great and going as planned, but fall apart when you are faced with challenges and obstacles, you allow your emotions to run the show. If people can clearly tell when things are not going well for you, it’s time to get your emotions in check. Life is not predictable. Plans will not always run as smoothly as expected, but it is important that you maintain your composure during these times. Don’t let your beliefs have power over the situation. If you allow sadness, anger or fear to take over, you will find it more difficult each time to bounce back after a set-back. Get to know your emotional triggers; what makes you angry, sad or afraid and then create a plan for coping with them when they arise.

4. Be Flexible With Your Plans.

Being too rigid and unwavering with plans can lead to disappointment. While setting plans and goals are ideal for making success happen, you have to accept that sometimes you may have to alter those plans. It’s a good idea to have a back-up just in case things don’t go the way you expected. Don’t allow minor setbacks to make you cancel your plans altogether, but have faith that you will find another way to get things done. Take detours if it is necessary. Be open to ideas and suggestions from those you trust. You will find another way if you are willing to receive what is being offered to you.

5. Don’t Let Success Be the Center of Your Life.

Success should not be at the center of your life. There are many more important things that you need to tend you. When you neglect or postpone what is important in your life, you will find that you are chasing success just to have more time, more energy and more money to enjoy life. It doesn’t happen that way. Set aside time to work on your career goals, business plan, life plan, etc, then continue with our life. If you’re always on the look-out for success, it will rarely come. Have you heard the expression: “A watched phone never rings.”? Be patient and don’t try to rush success. Learn to let go and you will see a transformation in yourself and your success plans.

6. Share What You Know or What You Have.

If you have a grip hold on success, but are not willing to share your knowledge, your time or your resources, chances are success will break free from you. Give of yourself and you will always be given. Don’t be afraid to share your knowledge even with a competitor because it the long run, you will benefit more from it. Volunteer, if you have the time.

7. Ask for What You Want and Believe You Will Receive It.

Do you state clearly your goals or desires? Depending on your faith or religious affiliation, pray, meditate and ask for what you want. Once you get it, don’t stop asking. We often make the mistake of asking for what we want and then we either give up because it hasn’t come in our anticipated time or we stop asking because we got what we wanted. You should never stop asking, because you are only halfway. When you stop asking you don’t allow more blessings to come into your life. If you only ask periodically or when things are going bad, then you are asking out of desperation. Ask continuously, and ask with the conviction that it will come to realization.

8. Stay in the Success Momentum.

The best way to keep from sabotaging your success is to stay in the success mindset. Giving in to financial or career blues can deter you from your goals. Keep away from people or situations that sap your energy or keep you stuck. Build a network of people that will challenge, support and motivate you when your outlook becomes distorted. Develop strategies that will help you to deal with rejections, disappointments and regrets. Lighten up and know don’t be yourself up for every little mistake you make. Take charge of all your trying situations and know that “this too shall pass.”

Getting Prospects To Return Your Phone Calls: Ten Tips That Will
Improve Your Percentages
Copyright © 2005 Bill Lampton, Ph.D.
Championship Communication
http://www.ChampionshipCommunication.com

When you review your list of phone calls you have made to
prospective clients, you note these initials, or similar codes,
that you wrote beside numerous names every month: HCB (He’ll
call back) and SCB (She’ll call back). But do they, without
additional prompting from us? Often they do not.

So we wonder, “How can I increase the percentage of prospects
who return my initial phone call?” After eight years as an
entrepreneur, I have discovered a few strategies that stimulate
callbacks. Here are the tips that work best for me, whether I am
leaving a voice mail message or talking to the office gatekeeper:

ONE: More than once, state the name of a prominent person who
referred you. Open the call, not with your own name (“Hi, I’m
Bill Lampton”), but with the referring party’s name: “Harley
Smith suggested that you might be interested in hearing about my
services.” Then close with, “As I said earlier, our mutual
friend Harley Smith prompted me to call you.”

TWO: Mention a specific point you want to talk with them about.
“I’ll appreciate the chance to hear your feedback about the bid
I sent you last week.”

THREE: Mention how the call will benefit them. “When you
return my call, I will explain how my services can improve your
company’s employee morale and customer service at the same time.”

FOUR: Suggest a specific date/time: “I will be in my office
tomorrow morning between 9:00 and 12:00, and I hope you get an
opportunity to call me then.” This suggests that a returned call
in that span wont initiate long-term telephone tag.

FIVE: Give the recipient the privilege of setting the preferred
date/time: “I’m going to give you my E-mail address now. Will
you please send me a short message, mentioning what day and time
are convenient for us to talk? I will keep my line clear for
your return call then.”

SIX: Promise to keep the return call brief: “When you return my
call, I promise to take no more than three minutes of your time.
You can hang up if I’m not finished by then.”

SEVEN: Confine your message to three or four sentences, even
with a receptionist. If the executive assistant or voice mail
message identifies you as longwinded, you are less likely to get
called back.

EIGHT: Say something that connects you with their organization:
“I know your company quite well, because I did an internship
there during my years at the university.”

NINE: Give your phone number at the start of your message and
again at the end. If the person missed jotting it down the first
time, she has a second chance without replaying the message.

TEN: Say, “In case it’s better for you to return the call after
hours, here is my cell phone number.” This doubles your access,
and indicates you give service beyond closing time.

Having shared these tips, I will ask whether you are enjoying
return-call success using strategies I haven’t mentioned. If so,
please share them with me by E-mail. Like you, I remain open to
any legitimate approach that strengthens my business.
